Chapter 16 - The three adventurers

The three got into the carriage and headed to Illustin Federation.

「I still can't understand, why it is necessary to fight a war just because they belong to another country...」

It was Megumi who muttered that.

「It's like they've been brainwashed, isn't it?」

Yuuya agreed with that.

「Hey, we are almost in Illustin Federation's cityー」

Seiya cut into their conversation.

「Once we get into the city let's go pray at the church, okay? For the safety of our journey」

They nodded at Megumi's suggestion.

We showed our guild cards at the entrance of the city and entered. Then after finding lodging, we left our carriage and went to the church.

We gave an offering to the sister who was at the entrance and then we went to the altar.

The three of us stood next to each other kneeling in a prayer position.

「Gods, please watch over us」

It happened at the very moment when they prayed.

At that moment, their vision was wrapped in a pure white space.

The three of them began to look around, not knowing what had happened.

There was nothing but a pure white world.

「Forgive me for having called you suddenly」

When we turned in the direction of the voice, we found a huge table with seven people sitting around.

「There's no need to be so nervous. You can sit there」

An old man sitting in the center called us.

The three of us sat just as the old man told us to.

「First, we should introduce ourselves. I'm Zenom-ja. I wonder if you understand if I call myself, Zenom, the God of Creation. The others here are the remaining seven gods, although one is absent...」

Zenom began to explain, with an apologetic look.

The three of them were surprised to hear the word 'gods'.

「It can't be... I never thought I'd actually meet a god... I-I'm called Yuuya Hirasawa」

「Seiya Shiina. Next to me is my wife, Megumi Shiina」

「I'm Megumi Shiina」

「Umu. I'll remember. Summoned heroes. I had a favor to ask you and that's why I called you here-ja」

Zenom started talking.

「In truth, all the chaos in the world is the work of one god. The name is Aaron, the God of Games. In this world, you see, there is not much to have fun with-ja. So you see-ja, he sent an oracle to the people to make a game, and everybody went to war-ja. We found out about his plan and deprived him of his capabilities as God, but then he fell to the Earth, and that made his mental state even worse. Now that he has fallen to the world below, there is nothing we can do. That's why I want you guys to do something for me-ja」

The God of Creation put his hands on the table and bowed.

Following that, the gods who were sitting around also bowed their heads.

「But are we able to... umm... defeat Aaron...?」

Yuuya asked with a nervous look on his face.

「But is this something we should do specifically ourselves...? I'd like to spend some time with my wife doing research if I can」

Seiya then followed along.

「People in this world are currently incapable of defeating Aaron's brainwashing. You are the only ones who can confront Aaron's brainwashing. However, it's impossible with your current levels. You'll have to raise it even further. For that, we'll spare no effort to help you all」

「We will give you our blessings at the highest level. And that's how you will grow fast. And we'll even provide weapons and armors. So please, stop Aaron...」

Bella, one of the gods, tells me with sadness.

「Even so, you might not be able to defeat Aaron. That is why I have prepared a sealing stone just in case. If you press this sealing stone against Aaron when he is weak and cast a spell, Aaron will be sealed」

Saying that, Grimm, the God of Skills took out a stone that could fit in the palm of a hand and handed it to us.

「You'll receive your weapons and armors from me」

Sanos, the God of War, made weapons such as Japanese swords like katanas and armors appear out of nowhere.

「Megumi is a Sage so I'll give this to you」

Reno, the God of Magic, brought out a staff and a robe.

「These weapons have been turned into sacred gear. Those weapons are too powerful, so be careful-ja」

「We even prepared a place for training for you all. Our world's time axis differs from yours after all. A year's worth of training in your world and only one minute will pass in our world. You should train here」

Zenom raised his hand to a place with nothing and a door appeared.

「Forgive me for asking this of you three, but I entrust it to you all...」

Then, the three of them walked through the door and headed to the training place.

I wonder how long we were there? Because Zenom-sama stopped the growth of our bodies we did not grow outwardly. We just spent our days defeating monsters.

We fought monsters for so long that we don't know how long we were fighting them.

Even so, we continued raising our levels non-stop while wondering if we would really be able to defeat Aaron, who is the same as a god.

And then the three of them came out of that world.

As expected, we returned to the church.

We were still praying in a church in Illustin but it was so far in the past that we could no longer remember when it was.

「「「This is...」」」

The three of them looked at each other and nodded.

A year of training in the world of the gods was no more than the time we knelt to pray.

The three left the church in silence and gathered in the room of the inn that they had reserved.

「That wasn't a dream, was it...?」

Yuuya replied to Megumi's question. Then he pulled out the sword that looked like a katana given to him by the gods from his item box.

「So it wasn't after all, I also have a set of armor and a sword in my item box」

「We have to do it after all, right...?」

And so the three of them departed to defeat Aaron.

We traveled for a year, gathering information and finding the place where Aaron was.

Right now, before us stands alone what appears to be a fifteen-year-old boy.

Lying on the ground around Aaron were the people who until a moment ago were praising him.

「You're alone now. Prepare yourself」

Seiya and Yuuya were pointing their swords at Aaron, while behind them Megumi had her wand ready.

「Hmph. Don't get carried away just because the three of you defeated a bunch of nobodies. I'm still a god, after all. You three alone are no opponent to me」

When the distance between them was less than ten meters, Yuuya and Seiya rushed to attack.

They received Megumi's strengthening magic and headed towards him with a non-visible speed.

Aaron stood there with two swords in each hand.

He then stops the sword skills of the two of them with his two swords

「This is all...?」

Aaron murmured a single word and waved his sword, and with that, Seiya and Yuuya were blown away.

「Seriously...!」

Yuuya muttered as he landed.

「I trained so much to raise my level, and there is still so much difference...?」

「There's no point in saying that!」

Megumi voiced her opinion.

『Inferno』

Megumi cast a magic at Aaron.

A vortex of flames engulfs Aaron.

After the flames were extinguished, Aaron was standing still there unaffected.

「Still nothing even after such attack..」

All three were in low spirits.

Just then, the sound of horse hooves could be heard behind them.

「Everyone, we are here to help!」

When we turned around, we saw that it was the Saint Meline who was shouting while riding her horse taking the lead.

And behind, a group of adventurers followed her.

The adventurers looked familiar.

They were the friends they made while doing the same requests together while traveling.

「Yo! A long time no see!! We are here to help!」

The three of them saw their friends and the sadness they felt disappeared and smiled.
